Six of the most common Sora applications: ship models, LEGO collectables, tug models and oversize display cases — every example comes from a real Sora order.
Clippers, galleons, tall ships — delicate rigging and high masts need room all round and absolute freedom from dust. Display cases with special dimensions for the height of the ship.
High-end Technic sets such as the Porsche GT3 RS, Bugatti Chiron or Lamborghini Sián deserve protection from dust and curious fingers. Display cases in 1:8 scale with a reflective base.
Models of tugs, freighters, harbour boats and research vessels — sturdy superstructures, plenty of detail. Display cases with enough height for funnels, aerials and cranes.
Millennium Falcon, AT-AT, Imperial Star Destroyer: Ultimate Collector sets are large, expensive — and need oversize display cases with a minifigure base in front of them.
When two dimensions go beyond 50 cm: made-to-measure special sizes with an oversize shipping service. Shipping to delivery addresses in Germany only. There are also two-part split display cases for particularly long models such as paddle steamers or tankers.
London Bus, Eiffel Tower, Titanic, Concert Hall — the iconic LEGO collectables of the Creator and Architecture ranges deserve a fitting stage under a clear made-to-measure display case.
A plexiglass case is a see-through protective cover made of PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) – in everyday use almost always called acrylic glass or simply plexiglass. It gives models, collectables, equipment or exhibits lasting protection from dust, from being touched and from accidental damage – and stays completely transparent while doing so.
We make display cases individually to your dimensions. Unlike standard cases with fixed inside dimensions, a Sora made to measure display case fits your object to the millimetre – be it a turntable, a model car, a railway module, a ship model or a collector’s figure. Special sizes and oversizes are possible too.
We neither glue nor mould in one piece; we supply the display case as a construction kit with small screws and nuts. You assemble the case yourself in a few minutes.
By the way: our plug-and-screw system is no passing fashion – we developed it ourselves more than 20 years ago and had it officially registered as a utility model. View the original document as a PDF ↗
In just under 5 minutes our explainer video shows the plug-and-screw system, the assembly and how the configurator works.
The online configurator guides you step by step – no data sheet, no queries needed.
Width, depth and height in cm – the room for your object.
Important: inside dimensions, not outside dimensions!Without a base, a regular base (with an overhang) or a flush base (90° cut).
Fully transparent, in classy reflective (mirror) acrylic or elegantly in black.
Price in real time. Delivery in about 8 working days – assembly in a few minutes.
Inside dimensions vs. outside dimensions — the most important point before you order:
In the configurator you enter the inside dimensions – that is, the usable room for your exhibit. The outside dimensions come out slightly larger because of the material thickness and the plug-and-screw system:
outside width = inside width + 14 mm outside depth = inside depth + 8 mm outside height (without base) = inside height + 7 mmWith a base: the usable inside height is reduced by 4 mm (the thickness of the upper base panel).
In the standard configurator at most one of the two dimensions width or height may be larger than 50 cm. If both dimensions are over 50 cm (for example 100 cm wide and 65 cm high for a large ship model), please use the separate order page for the oversize display case. Shipping to delivery addresses in Germany only. An oversize surcharge is already included in the configurator price, because a specially built, reinforced carton is needed. Very large cases can alternatively be ordered as a two-part split display case.
Cable cut-outs: not provided for in the standard configurator. For cut-outs
please order the Custom Turntable Cover –
there you can freely configure the width, height and position of a cut-out in the back panel.
LED lighting: we do not offer lighting systems ourselves.
We work exclusively with high-grade PMMA acrylic glass of industrial quality – crystal clear, lightfast and in the lasting Sora quality.
The acrylic glass we use does not yellow and does not become brittle even after years in direct sunlight. Important: the acrylic glass itself is UV-stable, but it offers no UV protection for the objects on display inside the case. Sensitive collectables should not be placed in direct sunlight.
When your parcel arrives, the acrylic parts will probably look blue, green, white or even scratched. That is the protective film covering every part on both sides to prevent scratches during production and shipping (reflective elements are filmed on the front only).
Simply lift the film at one corner with your fingernail – acrylic cannot be scratched by a fingernail. Underneath, crystal-clear, flawless acrylic glass comes to light.
The same instructions apply to every version of the case — made to measure display case, oversize case, split display case and turntable cover.

In everyday language, yes. The material polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is colloquially often called "plexiglass". Plexiglas® is, however, a registered trademark of Roehm GmbH. We manufacture from high-grade PMMA acrylic glass — the very same material that Plexiglas® semi-finished products are made of.
Always inside dimensions – that is, the room actually available to your exhibit. The outside dimensions come out slightly larger because of the material thickness and the plug-and-screw system:
The clear acrylic glass is 4 mm thick. If you opt for coloured (black) or reflective elements, these are 3 mm thick.
There are three options to choose from:
A base always consists of two 4 mm acrylic panels screwed together – the upper one fits into the case and acts as a guide. With a base the usable inside height is reduced by 4 mm.
In the standard configurator at most one of the two dimensions width or height may be larger than 50 cm. If both dimensions are over 50 cm, please use the oversize display case. Shipping to delivery addresses in Germany only. The oversize surcharge is already included in the configurator price. Alternative: the two-part split display case.
Not in the standard configurator. For cut-outs please order the Custom Turntable Cover – there you can freely configure the width, height and position of a cut-out in the back panel.
