A LEGO display case from Sora Shop is a transparent protective cover made of PMMA acrylic glass (colloquially also called Plexiglas) that is placed precisely over your assembled LEGO® model. It protects the set permanently from dust, fingers and accidental knocks – and stays completely transparent.
Whether you call it an acrylic case, a display cover or dust protection – it always means the same thing: a made-to-measure display case that fits your model to the millimetre. Unlike standard cases with fixed inside dimensions, we make every case individually to the dimensions of your set – from the compact Modular Building to the oversize UCS collectable.
Don’t feel like scrolling? In this short video we sum up everything on this page – the plug-and-screw system, the assembly and the logic of the configurator for your made-to-measure LEGO display case. In words and pictures, explained in a few minutes.
Six typical uses – from compact Modular Buildings to oversize UCS collectables. Every display case is made to the assembled dimensions of the set.
Jazz Club, Boutique Hotel, town house & co. – the highly detailed Modular Buildings quickly gather dust on an open shelf. A compact made-to-measure display case keeps them clean for good.
Porsche GT3 RS, Bugatti Chiron, Lamborghini Sián – Technic supercars deserve protection from dust and curious fingers. Low display cases, ideally with a reflective base.
Millennium Falcon, AT-AT, Imperial Star Destroyer: Ultimate Collector Series sets are large and expensive – and need oversize display cases, often with a minifigure base in front.
Tower Bridge, Colosseum, Neuschwanstein, Taj Mahal: iconic buildings are often wide or very tall – ideal candidates for a precisely fitted display case, and in oversize as a two-part version too.
London Bus, VW camper van, concert hall: the iconic Creator Expert models are real eye-catchers – under a clear display case they stay dust-free in the spotlight.
Neuschwanstein, Hogwarts, Titanic & co.: large and long sets call for special dimensions – as a two-part split display case or as an oversize display case. Oversize items: Shipping to delivery addresses in Germany only.
Guide values for popular sets – in each case the assembled dimensions (width × depth × height) and the matching type of display case. What counts for the order is always your own model: please measure it yourself before buying.

The material thickness is always the same: 4 mm clear acrylic glass, a back panel in
black or reflective acrylic 3 mm – regardless of set and size.
The online configurator guides you step by step – no data sheet, no queries needed.
Width, depth and height of the fully assembled set – at its largest point in each case.
Assembled dimensions, not box dimensions!Enter the dimensions plus a little clearance as inside dimensions – that is the room for your model.
Inside dimensions, not outside dimensions! No base, standard base or flush – back panel clear, reflective or black.

Assembled dimensions instead of box dimensions — the most important point with LEGO:
Always measure the finished model, not the box. In the configurator enter the inside dimensions (the room for the set). The outside dimensions come out slightly larger because of the material thickness and the plug-and-screw system:
outside width = inside width + 14 mm outside depth = inside depth + 8 mm outside height (without base) = inside height + 7 mmTip: allow 0,5 to 1 cm of clearance per side so that the set fits comfortably under the display case and can be taken out easily.
At Sora the transparent acrylic glass is always 4 mm thick – whether it is a small Modular Building or a large UCS set. Only a back panel in black or reflective acrylic is 3 mm thick. So in the configurator you do not decide on the material thickness, only on whether the back panel should be transparent, reflective or black.
In the standard configurator at most one of the three dimensions (width, depth or height) may exceed 50 cm. As soon as two dimensions exceed 50 cm (the UCS Falcon, for example, or the Colosseum with a 52 × 59 cm footprint), use the oversize acrylic display case. Very long sets such as the LEGO Titanic can be made as a two-part split display case. Oversize items: Shipping to delivery addresses in Germany only. The oversize surcharge is already included in the configurator price; shipping itself is the normal flat rate per order.
We work exclusively with high-grade PMMA acrylic glass of industrial quality – crystal clear, lightfast and in lasting Sora quality.
The acrylic glass we use does not yellow and does not become brittle even after years in direct sunlight. Important: the acrylic glass itself is UV-stable, but it offers no UV protection for the LEGO model on display. Sensitive sets (with many white or red parts, for example) should therefore not stand in direct sunlight.
We neither glue nor mould in one piece; we supply the display case as a construction kit with small screws and nuts. You assemble the case yourself in a few minutes – exactly the right thing for LEGO fans.
By the way: our plug-and-screw system is no passing fashion – we developed it ourselves more than 20 years ago and had it officially registered as a utility model. View the original document as a PDF ↗
When your parcel arrives, the acrylic parts will probably look blue, green, white or even scratched. That is the protective film covering every part on both sides to prevent scratches during production and shipping (reflective elements are filmed on the front only).
Simply lift the film at one corner with your fingernail – acrylic cannot be scratched by a fingernail. Underneath, crystal-clear, flawless acrylic glass comes to light.
Not every collectable belongs under a classic display case. For many small objects, a tiered presentation or wall mounting, Sora has the matching made to measure solution.
A cabinet with several compartments, like a printer’s tray – ideal for minifigures, small sets or a mixed collection side by side at a glance instead of under many individual display cases.
Configure a display cabinet ↗Present small models or minifigures on several levels. Tiered, every collection looks larger and clearer – also as a stage under a display case.
Configure an acrylic staircase ↗An acrylic box closed on all sides with a lid on top (listed in the shop as a donation box). It is the only version that can also be wall mounted – ideal when the LEGO piece is not to go on the sideboard but on the wall.
Configure a display box ↗What dimensions does my set have, which material fits, is a base worth it? The bot is trained on every made-to-measure display case topic and knows the dimensions of many LEGO sets. You will find it at the bottom right of this page at any time.
The display case is made to the assembled dimensions of your set – not to the box dimensions. Measure the width, depth and height of the finished model and enter these plus a little clearance in the configurator as inside dimensions. For many well-known sets you will find typical dimensions in the table above.
The material thickness is the same for all sets: the transparent acrylic glass is always 4 mm thick, a back panel in black or reflective acrylic 3 mm. So there is nothing to choose – we make every display case in this proven thickness, regardless of the size of the set.
Always inside dimensions – that is, the room available to your LEGO model. The outside dimensions come out slightly larger because of the material thickness and the plug-and-screw system:
Always measure the fully assembled model, never the box. Take the width (longest side), depth and height at their largest point in each case – including aerials, wings or spoilers. Add 0,5 to 1 cm of clearance per side so that the set fits comfortably under the display case.
Yes. A closed acrylic display case keeps dust, fingers and accidental knocks away from the model for good – with highly detailed sets that have many small parts in particular, that saves laborious dusting with a brush or compressed air.
There are three options to choose from:
A reflective or black base that sets the model off elegantly is popular for LEGO. With a base, the usable inside height is reduced by 4 mm.
Very long or very large sets such as the LEGO Titanic (approx. 135 cm) can be made as an oversize display case or as a two-part split display case. Oversize items carry an automatic shipping surcharge. Shipping to delivery addresses in Germany only.
The acrylic glass itself does not yellow and does not become brittle. However, it offers no UV protection for the LEGO model – sensitive sets (with many white or red parts, for example) should therefore not stand in direct sunlight.
